Or was Parson being involved in the casting enough to modify it just a bit? Consciously or sub-consciously?

I suspect that it was a quirk of him being linked when the spell went off. If the spell expected him to slingshot back to stupidworld after severing the anchor from the SPW spell, it probably was not designed with the circumstances of his strings being entangled with two erfworld natives when it goes off... Or Roger's death could have fumbled the casting.

What I'd like to bring attention to is the fact that we never see Parson's feet in any of these frames, nor have any idea if we didn't 'time skip' whatever parson's adventures were. The Arkenshoes may still be in play.

I personally lean towards the latter, as Charlie was aware of how the Shoes worked before. Of course, he probably intended to make Parson WANT to go back to Earth, and it might have worked during the Battle of Jetstone.

Also, maybe this is too recent of a reference, but considering he's a Heavy Warlord, instead of a water landing, the Smolder Bravestone landing from the new Jumanji would have been awesome too :)

Finally, Parson is looking even skinnier than normal in that last panel!

saw that movie, smolderin entrence would be awesome :D

There either should be a VERY GOOD technical explaination, or it will be the biggest ass-pull in the world. I'm holding my judgement, but it can fully ruin the Erfworld charm for me.

    Yes!

I suspect that during the transition from Transylvito to Spacerock, Parson Gotti lost his Chief Warlord status and thus every GK unit lost their CW bonus. Jack Snipe's internal thoughts in the previous update reflect this belief.

    Quote:
For good or ill, the Good Lord Parson Gotti's otherworldly foolishness had sent him back to his other world.

Plus I'm sure that Caesar and Benjamin and Vanna, all commanders, would have noticed that Maggie and Jack lost their CW bonus at the moment of Parson's vanishing, just as Janis noticed Sizemore losing his CW bonus.

So which was the more obvious foreshadowing - that Caesar would become ruler before the heir popped or that Parson would stay in Erfworld after casting the spell? Obvious might be a bad word; I applaud twists that have been set up years in advance.

Also - hah! - now we know why Maggie and Jack were over there, chatting quietly after Parson got teleported away.

    paraphrasing their imagined conversation:

Jack: "He's gone!!! Fuckity fuck fuck. "
Maggie: "Yeah, I know. ... ... hm. wait."
    Jack: "...oh. Our bonuses."
    Maggie: "yep."

By the way, guys. We do not see his feet in this page. Maybe - just maybe - he returned from Stupidworld with Arkenshoes at the exact moment he left (because wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff).

    Attempting a Prediction here:
-- The scroll snapped Parson back to Stupidworld-- but just for an instant
-- Then, his "new" psychocosmic ties to Erfworld snapped him back.

    Fantastic for many reasons:

    1) It was posted before 11:50 PM.
    2) Bonnie's face in the last panel.
    3) Parson acting fairly cool about it, taking a drink from the Jed cup.
    4) The water effects, both the splashing of water and the "splash page."
    5) Jed's pun.

I think while in the linkup Parson used some carnymancy (half unconsciously) to have the scroll not fully work. He threw some Carynamncy at saying more or less, 'I don't want to go', and it held him there.

It's easy. The spell sent Parson home.

I don't think enemy commanders can see your hit points or strength. At least, not without some special magic item.

Kinda frustrated that the established lore about the scroll just got thrown out of the window. Also kinda happy that we're not going back to to stupidworld. Not sure which outweighs the other.

Possible, but unlikely because if he leaves Erfworld, he would no longer be Chief Warlord until reappointed by Stanley (as Judy was no longer Overlady) and Bonnie immediately recognizes him as such. It's far more likely that the scroll worked in the sense of "There is no place like home!"

Can't dispute that. At any rate, it hasn't been long in Erfworld time, since Bonnie addresses him as chief.
If the 'shoes do have these side effects, it makes even better sense for a flyer or mounted unit (cough Jillian cough) to attune to the 'shoes.

It's a bit anticlimactic if it just sent him to Jetstone, but -

It was foreshadowed. We had a whole conversation with Janis where Parson realizes he likes his Side and doesn't really think of Earth as home anymore.

Storywise, it's fine. We woulda known Parson would get back in the game eventually, so an arc on Earth could've come off as a waste of time.

Also: It's funny when Charlie's wrong.

Also (and probably Ninja'd), that looks like a camera lens iris opening on top of Jed. I don't think the roof is normally open. Unknown whether the iris was there all along, and just now opened to admit Parson to the quickly flooded floor, or Jed modded himself a-la Shirley with the rebuild (though that took Ruler-approved Shmuckers.)

Better question: How did Jed know Parson was going to drop in unexpectedly? [Probably ninja'd by now as well]

This is not technical explaination. The spell doesn't just "send him home", it cuts his Summoning spell that binds him to Erfworld, and without it, he is pulled to Stupidworld.
