"The potent naughtymancy of self-destruction", as Doll Isaac had put it. I wonder what sort of grim spectres would hang over Charlescomm with the self-destruction of an entire side?

I feel Caesar might benefit from a little Monty Python.

Some things in life are bad, they can really make you mad
Other things can make you swear and curse
    When you're chewing on life's gristle, don't grumble -- give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best, and...

Always look on the bright side of life!

It's not surprising Charlie wants all the casters' bodies destroyed, but why is it so important to prevent Don's decryption?

I've lost track. Is there a plausible scenario in which the portal is Carnied? Because while this might be an appropriately tragic end for Caesar's arc, I think the chaos that would follow his successful suicide would derail way too many ongoing storylines.
And did we ever decide what happens to a side when their Ruler dies? Wanda went barbarian when he father died, but IIRC Parson discussed neutral sides being frozen in place until something came along to kill them, sort of like the neutral army in a 2-person Risk game.

Two former Unaroyal units have caused disproportionately massive amounts of trouble for GK, so probably plenty.

    My guess as well.

I’m thinking that Caesar won’t croak. Fate will have it that Sizemore will have kipi’d the TV portal by the time Caesar reaches it.

Reading this I cannot help but think that yes, yes indeed, Vanna cast upon him while he was beating her.

This is depression, empty and hollow, a state where hope is, at best, a lie, and always was. A state where all things NOT associated with yourself are the only things with even a glimmer of actually mattering in the end. A state where the call of self-destruction is sometimes the loudest thing you can hear.

A state, where motivation is an enemy, not a friend.

And if a lookamancer can induce blindness (See also, Book 0), then I do believe a turnamancer can suck the motivation out of you.

Ironic, since such action would inevitably result in destroying TV's heir... "Good job Vanna" (initiate slow clap)

Seems like, hang on... so, there were 3 portals that got sealed, Charlie's, Stanley's, and... and a red one, Jillian's. So it looks like TV's portal remains unsealed but, well, looking back we only see 3 portals sealed but that doesn't mean TV's isn't. And if it is sealed then, that'd mean Caesar ain't going nowhere.

    But I'm probably just wishing.

Then again, Pineapple did have the wonky wrench while "awakening" the towers, he could have "kipi"'d the TV portal while nobody was looking. Who knows.

Don was, except for his end, wise to the ways of Erf. The biggest thing preventing Don from being a big player in the world was his piety. The idea of running his side on accomplishment alone appears to be pretty novel for Erfworld. If Caesar's biggest weakness is his lack of subtlety and difficulty seeing the big picture, then Don's issue was seeing a bigger picture that probably wasn't there. Decryption would very likely alter Don's beliefs in that regard.

While it's been a book and a half, one of Parson's strategic goals was to repair GK's image and form alliances. I'm not sure there would be a better diplomat than decrypted Don. He's basically on speaking terms with all the local sides. I don't think he'd be able to make peace, but he'd absolutely be able to turn everyone against Charlie.

In a more practical sense, Charlie's had dealings with Don. As we all know from Jack's case, death and Decryption free you up to talk about things that Charlie tried to bury with NDAs.

That's a cold but effective way of denying Charlie what he wants.

Charlie wanted the corpses, or to confirm that they were destroyed.

Caesar only joined with GK on the vague hope that he might see Bunny decrypted. Sensing her body being destroyed, in a particularly gruesome way, was probably more than he could bare.

I wonder if the collar retained the properties it had before Bill altered it? I think it protected against crits? And Caesar's coat neutralizes one attack. Maybe together, Caesar is protected from the lethality of the portal? Or maybe HueHue somehow could lower the voltage?

I'm grasping at straws, because Caesar was one of my favorites. I like Jack a lot too, but for all his brilliance, he sure can't seem to get anything right, can he? Saving Stanley aside, Jack is terrible in the clutch.

Did we ever find out if Portals disband you, or if they just croak you? Because a croaked Caesar flying through the portal into the Magic Kingdom could still lead to some interesting things. What with the Arkenpliers recently having received a mind, just laying under the bedrock. I could see Wanda and Caesar both being decrypted.
