As an aside, I find it a little annoying that the big three-way call that shook Shirley so badly seems to have had zero impact on the overall negotiation posture. Minor quibble, perhaps, but it does bug me a bit.

I think it has. What, with Charlie in charge, would have almost certainly been a flexible negotiating stance has now become an ultimatum instead. And, knowing Charlie, the existing demands aren't actually what he wants... they are on his wishlist, certainly, but he would have started with demands he was certain would be refused so that TV's counter would start off closer to what he really had as his minimum requirements. The same negotiating style Don used.

So I'd say that Shirley being shaken has been catastrophic for the negotiation.

That doesn't make (Erfworld) sense. The baby doesn't come from Vanna, it's a unit being produced by the city. It would pop as a Transylvito unit and would have to be ordered to turn.

Maybe if Charlescomm claimed the city, but I don't think unit production progress transfers to the conquering side. The progress would be lost, "killing" the unpopped unit.

Slately!dupe thought sacrificing Spacerock would also mean the heir would never pop, so that's all but confirmed. New owner, empty production queue to then put stuff in, as per standard in most, if not all, 4x games, it seems.

Hmm... I'm vaguely remembering that in one of the Civ games, when you captured a city, you kept its current production target, even if it was something that you didn't have the tech to produce yourself. So, not all 4x games, but could be most.

Which Civ? Wasn't 4,5,6, or either of the call to power ones, and I don't recall being able to do that in 3. I may have played a few of them excessively....Haven't played the first two at all though, and there could be a spinoff I don't know about

Riiight. The city is popping a royal heir. To Transylvito. So that Charlie can improve his position re: royal sides. Which he can only do by letting TV survive as a Kingdom (or Queendom). Making the heir a CC unit, even if it were possible, would defeat that purpose.

Being seen as a friend of royal sides isn't Charlie's top priority, but it seems to be a consistent part of his tactics. And why not? Toolism has given royalism an adversary, and it would be a shame to waste such an opportunity.

I want to say it was Civ2, but it was so many years ago.... Could have been the original Civilization. Those were the two I've played the most.

And that kind of edge casing is why I said most, if not all, instead of merely saying all. Surprised they changed that. Not like a mostly done building wouldn't still be mostly built just because someone burned the other half of the city

Well, mostly you cared about military units. If you didn't have the tech for Bombers, but you captured a city that was building a Bomber, you could let it keep producing Bombers forever. But if you changed production to something else, then you could not switch it back.

I could see this being either a feature or a bug, depending on your point of view. In real life, if you capture a factory that's making airplanes, and somehow you convince the workers to keep working under your management, then they'd still know how to make airplanes, as long as there's a supply of parts. But you wouldn't necessarily know how to provide those parts.

Ah. If it would REPEATEDLY allow you to build the unit....making and maintaining one off spare parts isn't too bad at factory scales, especially if it was already half built so the parts were sourced, but doing it indefinitely means a whole supply chain. That would be weird behaviour

Yup, like it says at the bottom of the page of what i like to call 'DeIssac's last mistake.'
Presumably if Vanna turns, the baby goes with her.

How on Earth would that work?

The ”baby” is a royal heir in the process of popping. It’s ”Vanna’s baby” only to the extent that because she was banging Don King at the time it’s likely to have some shared signamancy with her.

There's a typo at the start of this page.

"Then it was like she'd never even had a hand there until it there was a pistol in it."

Should not be an 'it' between 'until' and 'there' (it's hard to spot).
