I suspect there is at least a kernel of truth to what Roger is saying. I've thought for a while that Parson was going to cast the scroll to do something other than what it was made for. I don't think Roger is lying that it is possible. I think he's just lying about his intentions.

Edit: You know, I wouldn't be surprised if Jack ended up being a monkey wrench in RVC's plan. He excused himself. I assume he'll show up to do something. And since he has no juice, it's gotta be something in the castle. I figure maybe he discovers Bill is gone, or find Bill in the workshop or something.

Keep in mind, he has no reason to suspect Roger. No reason to think that one of the GMs would betray him so long as Charlie exists.

The whole thing is so far fetched though. We are talking about link with a warlord to somehow use carynmancy that was for an entirely different purpose, and a turnamancer to reform a tiny bit of weirdamancy, to somehow do the major thing of altering a portal , when the only known way of doing so involves a dirtamancer. How would Roger even know the portal could be carnied like this, when before everyone thought it was impossible. It would have taken a lot experimenting before Charlie figured out how to do it, and now Roger suddenly 'knows' a way.

Parson must be struggling to wrap his head around this one. It is really stretching what we and him know about magic. It is possible he is starting to get suspicious and is playing along as well, and this update is from Caesar's point of view to hide that from us.

Or Parson is so used to twisting the rules that when someone else tells him the rules are flexible, he just takes their word for it.

Also I don't really understand why, having the bracer, you wouldn't ask "What are the odds this person is planning to betray me" every time someone suggested something a little suspicious.

It is probably true that the idea of being in a link up is like crack to parson, which is clouding his judjment a bit. They could really use Jack in the room right now.

But Roger would have been more convincing if he didn't sound so confident, and Instead described it a longshot but worth the try.

Man, when I read the first part of the update I felt an almost overwhelming desire to reach trough the monitor and strangle Roger with his own strings. Slowly.

The competition for the "Character in Erfworld I hate the most spot" is really fierce.

Do we know that Roger is 100% lying about Bunny's badness? I could understand the Great Minds wanting to explore a new Thinkamancer + Dollamancer exploit and Bunny shutting it down. My mind is fuzzy but I wouldn't be surprised if there's a kernel of truth to it in his manipulation of Bill. If it is completely fictitious then congrats to Roger for making up a damn-good lie.

The minds have already proven to know far more than they should, and have abilities far greater than known.

We do. In fact, Bunny killing Bill was what the GMs originally stated would get her back in good graces.

I am with you on that one. The way that Roger was disgracing Bunnies honour like that, after all the cruel things the Minds had done to her.

I had no hated character ... until now. Hi is a hypocrite, who is the worst Thinkmancie baddie we have seen yet.

So basically RVC wants to link up with Vanna to cast a turn-think-link on parson to motivate him to read the scroll. To that end he tells Parson..anything baity. Fine i got that.

Is RVC aware that there's a Master Foolamancer in the house?

BTW nice Game of Thrones reference with the pillar of (many) faces to the left

    Bunny-Doll speculation:

I think she's made to be an assassin and her looks should make Caesar hesitate to strike her or order her to have her struck, so she can hit Parson.

The GoT Assassin face pillar and the "off-buttonish" drawer knobs to the right would signamance in direction assassination. The purple containers might signamance there to, as generally purple is often used as symbolic color for poison. I have to find out what those containers in purple are though. perhaps anyone has a lead to it - signamancywise

I think RVC gave himself away to Ceasar when he asked about the Turnamancer. Ceasar is smart and paranoid, while Parson is smart and open-minded.

    EDIT for typo.

We also know from the earlier updates that Ceasar was already nervous about RVC and mostly humoring parson. And Ceasar knows Parson is overly trusting due to Parson giving him the ability to steal all the gems. This is going to trigger a "Listen Parson, we need talk..." conversation unless something dramatic happens to distract him, which there's actually a pretty good chance of given how narrative works in this story.

I am another one who doesn't know why Bill is assembling the Bunny doll. It doesn't make sense.

Plus I'm pretty sure that even a masterclass Foolamancer can't hide the Bunny doll's existence from its own Ruler, Caesar. Once animated through Dollamancy, it becomes a unit of Transylvito. Caesar would know that it is and where it is.

Sure Caesar can sense the doll, and knows where it is, but he doesn't know what the doll looks like. He'll have to see it for himself.

Maggie is in the room and overhearing their conversation. Maybe she knows enough to criticize Roger's claims.

Overhearing what conversation? The one Roger is having with Parson? Plus Magie's a thinkamancer, not a weirdomancer, and she's not a great mind at that either.

Or do you mean the conversation Roger is having with Bill? Maggie can't hear things that don't come out of Roger's mouth. Also, again, Maggie isn't a great mind so she isn't as privy to their secrets.

If somebody offered to form a link between me and Bill, I'd nope that until I ran out of nopes.

Hopefully Parson has the same reaction.
