Maybe when an attuned welder dies an arkentool disappears and randomly appears somewhere in Erfworld.?

Maybe they are rare random loads. When a new ruin or site is created on erfworld, a random dice roll determines the contents. 9 natural 20's in a row and you get one of the four arkentools. Or maybe just a new hex. Dunno, we never got the full story on how Stanley found the hammer, or where the pliers were before JS had them.

I always got the impression they were left behind somewhat carelesly as they were of less value to the titan's like the stone falling from the cape of the titans that caused everything. Actually come to think of it, does that heavily imply that fate is something grander than the titans? That they are subject to it?

Good to see Wanda saving the day...

You know, if Gillian put her throwing dagger through the strings of Olive's instrument, that might count as killing her no matter who took the opportunity to stick in the knife.

The 'cloudy future' part is very curious. Could it be the result of a spell someone's going to cast?

With regards to the Arkenshoes... this may be nothing, but Wanda spent an awful lot of time in Book 1 wearing red shoes:

To add to the Arkenshoes theory, I'm throwing my voice behind Signamancy. We know that the Dish and Pliers are Thinkamancy and Croakamancy respectively. If we assume that the Hammer is Croakamancy which, despite the naysayers, I agree with, then we have a pattern. Each of those is on the Fate axis for Mancies that contain multiple Elements. Two, Two and Three, respectively. However, there's a hole. There's one more Two-Element combination that isn't filled in, and that is Hippiemancy. Guess what is on the Fate axis of Hippiemancy?

Signamancy would explain why they haven't shown up in Book 1. They could make themselves go away. And shoes, beyond being foot coverings and gripping the ground are all about looking good. That's Signamancy. A lot of things line up. It makes a lot of sense.

    a) She spoke of the 'fourth' Arkentool, not the Arkenshoes, an important difference. She may not remember the Arkenshoes exist.
    b) There are a lot of things Gillian doesn't know about Wanda. Such as the whole thing with her involvement in the destruction of Faq for example.

The second link is to an outfit that Wanda wore while interrogating Jillian, but do we know if Erfworlders can recognize an Arkentool's Arkenness by sight?

Or maybe Rob wrote that comic before deciding about Book 0, the Arkenshoes or Wanda and Jillian's past.

As far as the "everything has gotten cloudy" line, the way i picture Fate in Erf is kind of like a rapid moving creek, with stepping stones all along it's length. The stepping stones represent fixed, mandatory events, which are Fated and MUST occur. Think Doctor Who at the end of David Tennet's run, some things just HAVE to always occur, no matter what. Everything else int he stream, however, all the watter russhing by, ar free variables. The people with no stated Fate, like Delphie. They can do pretty much whatever they want most of the time, but they will bump into the stepping stones, and each other, all along the way. But they get glimpses of what's to come through Predictamancers, and they attempt to control their collision with the Fated events as much as possible. Sometimes they do ok, sometimes they make a trainwreck out of it. Our story, here, is approching one of those Fated steping stone events, and everyone is attempting to pull the stream in a different direction to make sure that THEY can dodge the crash. The result of so many powerful individuals attempting to influence the outcome of the Event has the same effect as a head of cattle stampeding through the creek; the water becomes muddy and NO ONE can clearly see where the Rock is anymore, and EVERYONE ends up crashing headfirst into it.

Even Wanda's initial rebellion against Fate didn't have the disastrous and chaotic results that we are seeing here. Because it was really only ever HER fighting her Fate. I believe that her father would have gone along with Delphie's plan, even after learning about her scheming, if Wanda had agreed to it. He would have resentedit, but he let his daughter decide for herself. Int his case Jillian has been fighting Fate every step of the way, Olive is trying to take the VERY easy way, Faq want to find a way to at least get a neutral pass, Wanda desperatly wants everyone on the Easy way, but totally lacks the authroity to make the calls; and it's no wonder that Marie sudden'y can't see anything except muddied waters.

None of them appear to fit. Judy's shoes don't even come up to her ankle. Most of those were well past Wanda's ankle. The only possibility I saw was one where too much of the shoe was covered to be sure. (Interrogator Wanda.)

Also noticing from how many outfits Wanda seems to have: Has see been keeping up with her dollamancy?

Also, you need to change your location - not under rubble anymore.

Their powers are unknown and magical objects can be resized. A sword was reduced butter knife-like status at one point as I recall.

Speculation: Can the Ruby Slippers, the arkenshoes, take Parson home as they did Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz?

If one can infer anything about the arkenshoes from the movies (or books), it is that the ruby slippers have the power to possibly take Parson over-the-rainbow and back home to Earth (much as they did Dorothy) or at least back as far as Kansas. From there he'd have to hitch. ;-)

the first thing I thought when I saw "arkenshoes" was that Judy is gonna leave with them, which would make Olive ruler... and Jill is Fated to kill the ruler. And if Judy left with the shoes they'd be out of the picture

Banhammer was pictured as a very obvious fool from his very first appereance:
    http://www.erfworld.com/book-1-archive/?px=%2F082.jpg

Thinking about him as some kind of... Yoda or Mr. Fantastic or something like that has always seemed to me as one of the wildest and unfathomable theories of this forum. Usually, the obvious is just true.
