Wow, impressive croakamancy. I wonder how Fritz and the rest of Wanda's (living) soldiers will take an uncroaked Tommy?

I suspect Fritz and the others might be mildly freaked out...

On the other hand, the fact that we know Wanda survives this is the only reason I wouldn't bet on Papa Firebaugh disbanding them both on the spot once he found out that a "monstrous" magic like Croakamancy had been worked on his son's fallen corpse.

That being said, I imagine his actual response will be "Get the hell out of my throne room, you freak, I'm trading you to Haffaton."

Insaanlee Ova Powered Firebaugh, King of Goodminton stared at his Predictamancer, teeth clenched to hide his fury. She had played him all along. How or why he didn't care at this point. But even in the current hopeless situation, he could obtain a small bit of satisfaction. "Delphie!" he called to her. "What will you be doing in 5 minutes?" "Sire?" she replied, puzzled. "I said, what will you be doing in 5 minutes? Give me a reading." Her eyes drooped for a second then she gasped. "There's nothing! How can this be? No!" With a look of horror she backed away from her king. "Disband!" he said.

"Come", the king called to the few troops he had left in the palace. "The army has recaptured Goodenuf. We will make our stand there. To the tunnels!" They led their shuttlecocks down through the dark passages to emerge from a hidden gate just outside the walls. "We go on 4."

    1. The king broke alliance with both Quisling and Frenemy.

    2. Clay set off the air defences, sending hundreds of lawn darts into the hovering forces, now immobilized as they no longer shared Goodminton's turn.

    3. The king declared Goodenuf the new capital.

    4. They mounted. With a chorus of crowing, the shuttlecocks lept into the air.

Mirror-Wanda shouldn't be so harsh on her, she's what, twenty six turns old? Strange that Wanda's signamancy matches who she'll become rather than the girl she is BTW.

*Sighs* Poor Wanda.. fate is starting to drag her towards it. I wonder if she would get her outlook about fate before or after she was forced to work under Olive

I'm just curious as to how a delayed death, like poison, works under Erfworld's unique relativistic time mechanics - I think every other spell/action/attack/etc. we've seen took effect instantly and lasted until dispelled/turn ended. Even Tommy's uncroaking only took "hours of subjective effort" - presumably that just describes the juice expenditure involved. To an outside observer in another hex it may have taken longer, or occurred instantly, depending on the relative passage of time.

The only explanation I have is that it works like the Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique in Kill Bill - i.e. that it's move based, and kills you after you've traveled a certain distance. Perhaps if he had chosen to stay, or if he had only traveled a short distance, changed his mind about turning/allying, and then returned, Olive might have had time to administer an antidote.

    Nicely done!

But if that happened I'd be a bit disappointed. I hoped Wanda would return Delphie the favour of silence, by having the Predictamancer's lips sewn shut. It's wonderful what morning autoheal allows one to do to their own units, while staying within the bounds of Duty.

Imagine what autoheal can allow one to do to enemy units while still keeping them (barely) alive.

Crucifixion. The unit could potentially live forever in that state.

Very nice and interesting to see Wanda's first cross-class casting. I find it very telling that she unwittingly discovers her rare talent in what I would argue is her life's most traumatic turn.

I had to reread that part myself to make sure, but it said she spent those hours of subjective effort in a few seconds, so it is definitely referring to the mental exhaustion and not the length of time. :geek:

Interesting, the use of poison is tied to a discipline of Hippymancy. I suppose they all have some form of offensive ability, even the 'Peace'-related schools.

Do you suppose they justify killing by saying poison creates a peaceful death? I kind of thought Olive Branch was trying to PRESERVE life. HMM.

There have been some great updates for IPTSF, but I think this is my favorite! Awesome work!

I can't wait to see what adventures uncroaked Tommy has. I hope they get to do something awesome before they get inevitably kicked to the curb by Fate and their "allies"...

The only peaces on Erfworld seem to be death, deception and betrayal.

Inner Peace (Through Superior Firepower), indeed.

It seems more that everything plant-related is part of Flower Power. This happens to include poisons. But it could easily include healing herbs and extracts as well.

Good guesses for those who puzzled out it was Olive's doing. So, Wanda does not laugh, but she does cry. Interesting...
