I have taken over Acorntails side:

Our mantra is "It's clobbering time!"

Side Name: Downtown
Colour: Orange (Technically, grey with orange highlights.)
Description:

Ha! Those foolish invaders and their smug little eyeballs! They think that we dwarfs don't know the way of war! Well we know! WE KNOW! Our hammers broke deep into the earth, and we hid. Well, it wasn't hiding! WE"RE NOT COWARDS! For you see, it was all a plan, a plan the Oldking Coal hatched in his BEARD! We would emerge after the dust settles and claim the desert as our own, smashing all pitiful resistance beneath our GIANT HAMMERS! FOR DOWNTOWN!

Ruler Name: Oldking Coal
Warlord Name: Duke O'York
Number Between 1 and 100: 88
Hiding Location: Mountains

Units:
Pinheads 5/5/3/6 (20 + 0)
Stabber
'Pinheads are known for their reckless behaviour and tendency to head-butt their opponents. Like all Downtown units, they sport magnificent beards with dangling hammer charms. Their classification as stabber class is a technicality - they wear pointed helmets.'

Cheap-Shot 5/5/1/6, ranged (20 + 0)
Archer
'Downtown's hammer obsession takes a strange turn with their Cheap-Shots, heavily armoured plated crossbowmen. Instead of arrows, they fire hammers. Seriously.'

Snub 3/0/0/10, scout (30)
Scout
'Snubs are a strange side effect of Downtown's industry - bricks with a thousand legs with a tendency to hurl themselves at people. Close enough to living hammers to get a pass.'

Special Unit:
Hammer-Heads 11/3/2/12, siege, burrowing, mountain capability, speed Boost - (40)
Beast Class A Special
'Hammer-Heads were bred originally as pets to the courtiers of Downtown, but their potential for warfare was discovered after an incident involving three Hammer-Heads and a ladder. Since, these misshapen beasts have served as Downtown's calvary of choice.'

OOC: Oh, I see. Dave said you could redesign, so I wasn't sure if you'd made your own side. Thank you!

This is my first time playing, so I left it as is. I am working on learning the basic flow of play so I figured the flavor text could wait for this one and I would use the Hammer Dwarves.

To his highness, Lord Roland the Sour

You may not yet have scouted us, nor our units, but we currently have vision of you. We are Wonderland, our cities lie to the west-south-west of Panag. We have no leadership in the area as of right now, but we hope to parley with you in time. Until then, would you accept a truce between our sides?

Alternately, Underempire holds one of our warladies in Undertopia. You could make it a condition of alliance that you be allowed to treat with her, and parley with us thus.

In either case, I hope for peace between our sides.

    Kind regards,
    Janis Tassadar

We have encountered your scouts, and you ours. As ever, we desire peace. We would ask that your eastmost units move no further into our territory until we can set up negotiations. We are less trusting than we were. We will endeavor to have a command unit available for negotiations in 2 turns' time, at a meeting point of your choosing.

    Hail Janis!

Your scout has entered the territory of the Grand Duchy. We have no interest in negotiations. Withdraw, and do not explore further to the West and North, or you will be destroyed.

    Best Regards,

    Premier Sinkerwell

    Hail, Premier Sinkerwell

We desire no quarrel, and will retreat from your territory. Regrettably, we have already sent one of our scouts west of our point of first encounter. We ask that you do not mistake our curiosity for hostility, and let us pull him back next turn.

    Regards,

    Lady Janis,

I am no highness, merely a simple overlord. And my name is Ronald, not Roland. If you wish to parley with Savage, an appropriate repsentative will be in or around the city of Panag for some time. Move a command unit nearby under a flag of truce and we can talk.

Your quarrel with the Underempire is note concern. If they have taken a warlord of yours captive, I can do nothing to ameliorate that situation.

    Lord Ronald, the Sour

Alright, apart from Tourniquet, turn 5 is done.

Deo has started turn 6, and will be followed by SilverSought and HerbieRai.

The empires are started to expand, with players interacting in each other's battlespace, which has the potential to slow the pace.

    Highlights of Turn 5:
    * First level 2 cities were built
    * First Empire to reach 3 cities controlled
    * First Contact with barbarian tribe established

Some minor changes going forward with turn 6:
    * Scout reports will now say: SCOUT (yes/no), STACK (number of stacks), LEADERSHIP (yes/no - if a command unit is present)
(if it is just a Scout, the report will simply say SCOUT)
    * I want to clarify that economic structures and cities can be upgraded by more than one level per turn. Some folks seemed to assume this, and upgraded hunting sites to level 5 straight away, while others have methodically upgraded them each turn.

I have also started a "if I ever do this again" file, wherein I put my ideas for Empires XI. If you see something that should be clearer or simpler, let me know!

I have shuffled the play order a little, to make a more efficient turn - it should not directly effect any player too dramatically.

    Play order is now:

    Deo, HerbieRai, and Brimstone

    CroverusRaven and GWvsJohn

    SilverSought, SeraphRedux, and Tourniquet

Deo has completed turn 6. HerbieRai and Brimstone have started turn 6.

Jimmeny, Does a meeting at the resource spot that lies exactly between our two cities in two or three turns (8 or 9) with a small escort of units (5), sound reasonable?

Light blue, we have spotted one of your scouts where the road splits in three ways, A site lies at the point where they meet and it borders the desert.

To the side with forces in light cactus near a mountain and 3 other light cactus spaces I ask that you move your forces back as you are encroaching on Dwarven territory. If you would like to have a parley please let me know and we can meet with a small force (no more that 4 other units) at a location near your current locale in 2 or 3 turns hence.

I should be able to send my warlord to that location in three turns times. I request the meeting be on my turn, as I have no idea when the sandstorms will subside and it slows the movements of my men even on the roads.

    To Queen Victoria of Underempire

Do you intend to abandon our current round of negotiations? A full turn has passed, and you've yet to respond to our latest proposal. If you wish to propose your own terms, or reject ours outright, you are as ever welcome to. But at least do us the courtesy of a response.
