Real life comes first. And don't worry, between tomorrow and early Monday morning I should be able to finish this turn so that everyone doesn't go crazy waiting to finish what they started.

I'm gonna be busy till about Friday, so move on in turns without me unless it'll slow another player, and I'll catch up about Friday when I'm no longer busy.

I thought about it for a bit, considered getting more stuff for a later profit boost, but I wanna up city level soon, and start expanding, so I decided to save money.

Smart move, most likely. The question will end up being which is better going up or going wide?

    A steady correlation between the two. Don't go up all the way without expanding out, and don't expand to far without upping what you have. I have a semi system in place.1, 2, 2-1, 3-1. 3-1-1, 3-2-1, 3-2-2, 4-2-2, 4-2-2-1, 4-2-2-2, 4-3-2-2, 4-3-2-2-1, 4-3-2-2-2, 4-3-3-2-2, 5-3-3-2-2, 5-3-3-3-2, 5-4-3-3-2, 5-4-3-3-3. That's as far as I've gotten, and its still subject to change.

Plans are meant to be changed, don't make a concrete one, let it flow with what happens. Adapt, adopt, implement, survive :P

Upgrading the starting city to level 2 before getting a second city, eh? Interesting choice.

Its actually secure as a level 2, with a level 1 anyone can walk in from anywhere. By being level 2 I can defend it better, and not have my side of two whole cities crumple with relative ease.

It also may be financially more valuable as you get more resource points and more room to use them. Remember, although you receive 3 upgrades per city level, level 1 cities can only build in their hex, none of the surrounding ones. Focusing on resource points is far more valuable.

Each resource point provides 600 schmuckers (plus a bonus). Since a level 1 city can only build 1 resource point in its hex, not in any of the surrounding, a level 1 caps at 1600 schmuckers. 2 level 1 cities provide 3200 schmuckers at a cost of 15,000 to build. 1 level 2 city however can use all 6 resource points (assuming space) giving it 5600 schmuckers at a cost of 17500 to build. A huge improvement for money, but not unit production. Durmatagno likely has already done to the numbers on how many troops he will possess and is optimizing his strategy.

It is nice to see that I was not the only one that decided to establish a long range plan. A question for Durmatagno, how closely did you calculate the schmuckers needed and the production of units?

Just a rough overview of how much I want to be spending on unit maintenance before my second city, letting me have a variety of options to react to what's around me. Secondly, my city plan is also subject to change as I expand the map around me, seeing where I want to go. I almost want to be a naval power, but I don't know much about the water next to me, just a bit of the coast.

Ah, you see after a little bit of time and enough people pointing it out to me. I discovered that according to my own calculations a level 1 city can build in the 6 hexes around the city. So because of all this brand new space I decided that you shouldn't be able to have resource points inside your city. So I did try to say this earlier but I figured I would need to say it again because I had already drilled it into your heads that you only got one hex with a level one city. Just to clear up the confusion.
