As the one interacting with them it took me a good while to figure that one out too. For a while I thought it was 2 v 1.

Yeah, I've been less than well recently, so I haven't been saying as much, glad it's understood now though.

All players have now finished turn 3. Well done.

I have orders to process for two players for turn 4, but have run out of steam. Tomorrow is the new today.

    Cheers

Seems like it takes an awful lot of time to even make one turn.
    Narration's good, though.

Maintaining the map for one of these games is a massive amount of work. The fact that Dave can maintain this pace with seven players is extremely impressive.

Agreed. As someone who's tried to run games like this, even a cooperative game can be VERY time consuming for the GM, tracking everyone's status, keeping notes on what has and hasn't been found and by who, and processing several times more information than any one player.

Thanks for the support. Yes, we slowed a bit there - I had some assignments and things happening, plus some player interaction.

Two players have completed turn 4. HerbieRai and CroverusRaven are now working on their turn 4's. Once HerbieRai is done, GWvsJohn and Acorntail can start, followed by SeraphRedux and Tourniquet.

I have no assignments due for a while, so we can speed up a little.

    Cheers

Charl E. Main really did not want to use the book. It seemed almost like a trap design to let the great empires know when new sides had started up in the region. He could not ignore the sightings of a nearby side, however, and felt that he had to respond to it in some way. Picking up his quill, and chewing on the edge of the feather, he thought hard about what to say. He was already annoyed at all the empires that have thoughtlessly conveyed their moves to what should be a common advesary, the thought that he needed to use the book now irked him to no end. He finally brought the quill down to the book and began to write. He really hoped that he was not talking to one of the great enemies of old.

"To whom I am speaking, you should already know who I am. I have recently spotted one of your orange cities with a scouting unit from afar. You should have an idea of what my forces are moving to and even more why they are heading there. I seek no hostile action, nor do I plan to be a stepping stone, a peaceful course is possible. We have greater worries then constant border skirmishes with each other and we should understand that the same... concern should unite, rather then divide, us. We are Whedawall, We are tenacious, and first most we are survivors. Stand with us, I ask of you, or stand against and weaken the barriers against what storm fate magic has divined."

Jimmeny of the Moppets looked at the newest entry in the book while touring his new city and wondered for a moment if he was the one in question. His side's colors were more of a 'lava' color, but orange was another word for it.

"Hello again everyone, Jimmeny again. So this 'orange' side you speak of... Is it sitting just east of a small cluster of mountains by chance? Cause that may be us, and we haven't spotted anyone yet, so apparently you're WAY better at hide and seek than my scouts are. If it is, we intend to claim the city to our west and north a bit, probably will camp a scout there. So if you check that city site and a little green fella is sitting there, please contact us and we can talk about what we get for letting you just have that site that we clearly already have a unit sitting in readying for purchase."

"There is not any mountains to the west of the city for a fair distance. We have also managed to place a scout in the city before the empire we scouted did. Please advise if your city is in a ##, #9 spot."

Charl wanted to be more specific, but he knew that others would surely be watching his messages. A concordance needed to be reached if the empire was not one of the greats of old... If it was one of the old great empires... Then tough times would, likely, be ahead.

Having finally found his glasses, Jimmeny quickly starts scribbling in the book.

"There are actually white troops just outside our city. We see you have units camped in the city we were talking about, your colors blend in well in the sand. Our scout will withdraw from that area, no point fighting over something you want, we'll stick to the east of the mountains. Our city is indeed in the city that ends in ##.#9. IF you have a Leadership with the unit 1 hex north of us, we are willing to talk about a treaty at the hex border."

He is unsure how they crept right up to the edge of his city, and mentally berates his scouts for not including the sighting of unknown units in the area.

Two more players processed. It is now GWvsJohn and Acorntail's turns. Next up are SeraphRedux and Tourniquet.

    Still moving, if slowly.

    Two more players processed.
Two players are now starting turn 4, and two more are starting turn 5.

In the event players are quite dull and new to the whole "interwebs" thing, if your map is too big for your screen, right click on it and save it to your own computer, then open it so you can see it properly.

I cannot imagine anyone is quite this silly, but I choose to say it here openly rather than secretly seven times.

    Cheers

Waiting on a response from GJC or SeraphRedux.

I will be travelling for ten days starting Sunday night, so the game will be on mini-hiatus.

Edited in a lot of extra information in my post on the first page about the units on our side. Hope it's well enjoyed.

    Cool cool.

Processing delayed until the morning - call it 14 or so hours.

SeraphRedux / GJC and Tourniquet have completed turn 4.

I have orders from Deo and SilverSought for turn 5, but I will not have time to process them before I go on holidays. So, the game is now on hiatus for at least 10 days.

We'll be back! Keep watching the skies!

Jimmeny begins writing in the big book, aiming his message at his new neighbor.

"My hopefully future friend, I would like to discuss our future in private, preferably with a member of your leadership. As my Warlord is away from the capital it would be easier if you were to send yours to our city. I would be perfectly reasonable to send them with a military escort, such as a stack of infantry, to avoid any trouble on the road incase another kingdom is invading our combined space, and I assure you we will welcome your warlord and a small personal entourage within the city limits while the main escort wait just outside until a treaty can be worked out. I will say no more on here, as it concerns just us. I just want to make sure we do not compete over the surrounding resources when we clearly have similar goal of unity against the great empires.

    -Jimmeny of the Moppets"

OOC: pretty well so far. I like how Dave has simplified many of the rules. While it would be nice to have an exact copy of erfworld game to play, I think its a bit much for a PBP. I still get the feeling scouting can be streamlined a bit more, but the only half reasonable idea I can come up with are that scouts reveal X hexes in all directions. Then you can buy "scout X" as an upgrade to any unit for different costs.
