Okay, I spend 6 motes.

12 motes left.

And I was surprised at one of the spells, it was actually a downgrade... weird, neg? Still, I thought it more appropriate.

Are you seriously sending out 130 workers to take on that Devourer?

The Parasite smiled. "It appears your beast may need help. Shall we say, 12 more?"
The Parasite settled down. He had spent himself a little bit with the empowering of the gems. He wanted to see how they would test out.

OOC: I WILL NOT DO THIS BATTLE! NOPE! NO WAY! Someone else can GM it.

(So you have more workers than are found in an entire colony in the arena? ...)

Teserath nods and waves a hand, the Devourer creates 5 duplicates of itself. They all roar, striding towards the army of Ants.

No, I said 12 more... however, what say we go, 1:13 odds.
    1 devourer, vs 13 workers?

I will put my As-of-yet-to-be-decided next minor artifact up as gamble... Any takers?
the bet: the ants will win the majority of the combat.

Also, did you care to roleplay what that ant felt? and what you learned from it?

    What what ant felt?

And 1 Devourer vs 13 workers sounds like a good show. Then we'll scale it to watch some awesome stuff.

Oh, damn. That's a tempting prize. Well, since Devourers have spell resistance and that trap essence move, I'll take your bed and put another uncreated minor artifact into the pot.

Next combat I think that my Ailorans should have a chance to prove their worth. Any challengers?

OOC: Ailorans are loosely based on Sahuagin, so I tried to adopt their stats from those. Someone might want to check to make sure I didn't screw up.

    Ailoran Warrior
    Size/Type: Medium Monstrous Humanoid (Amphibious)
    Hit Dice: 4d8+3 (19 hp)
    Initiative: +1
Speed: 30 ft. (6 squares), swim 60 ft.
    Armor Class: 17 (+1 Dex, +7 natural), touch 11, flat-footed 16
    Base Attack/Grapple: +2/+4
Attack: Talon +4 melee (1d4+2) or trident +4 melee (1d8+3) or heavy crossbow +3 ranged (1d10/19-20)
Full Attack: Trident +4 melee (1d8+3) and bite +2 melee (1d4+1); or 2 talons +4 melee (1d4+2) and bite +2 melee (1d4+1); or heavy crossbow +3 ranged (1d10/19-20)
    Space/Reach: 5 ft./5 ft.
Special Attacks: Blood frenzy, rake 1d4+1
Special Qualities: Animal Empathy, Spell-like abilities: Something telekinetic
    Saves: Fort +3, Ref +4, Will +4
    Abilities: Str 14, Dex 10, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 13, Cha 9
    Skills: Handle Animal +4*, Hide +6*, Listen +6*, Profession (hunter) +1*, Ride +3, Spot +6*, Survival +1*
    Feats: Great Fortitude, Multiattack

Ill put a single worker up against your guy. Mine will fight unaugmented. Yours?
And lets see... The prize for that combat will be... Should you win, I will create a being of your choice, within reasonable values.
If I win, then you would owe me your allegiance at some point in the future.

I must say... A creature that can cast meteor swarm at will is a little too much no? And if you have 10 of them... including some guys who can cast time stop...

    Aren't these near epic magics?

"Any spell that would require a member of another race to research for decades before they could access it should not be knowable 'at will' by ANY commonplace creature. And magic in general should require study. An entire race of beings that can all use magic all the time with whatever they want? They'd be physically disabled, simply by context. They'd prefer their magic over their physical abilities and many of their physical bonuses would atrophy over time."

    ((OOC Translation: Take a creatures HD, if it's HD are 1-5 it can only use 0 to 2nd level spells at will, 3rd and 4th 1/day, 5th 1/week, and can't use 6th-9th. HD are 6-10 it can only use 0 to 3rd level spells at will, 4th and 5th 1/day, 6th 1/week. HD are 11-15 it can only use 0 to 4th level spells at will, 5th and 6th 1/day, 7th 1/week. HD are 16-20 it can use 0 to 5th level spells at will, 6th to 7th 1/day, 8th 1/week. 21+ HD allows 0 to 6th level at will, 7th and 8th 1/day, and 9th 1/week.

That's spell-like abilities mind you. And a creature shouldn't be capable of casting more spells than HD x2, unless magic is the main point of the creature (meaning is has to suck in regular combat). Wide variety of spells should be determined randomly (so the chances of 5 ant warriors ALL knowing produce flame would go down, thanks to you wanting to make your race freaking swiss army knives with their gems. :|

((Also, Daemon, do you plan the Ant's being a playable race? Because if so we need to fix them because you've HORRIBLY broken them trying to, for some reason, compete with me, even though Teserath is making Monsters, as in, things that can not be used as player characters. And if they do become a player race we need to find their level adjustment. Even the lowly workers will ahve, at a minimum, +3 (2 hit dice, random spell-like ability based on gem which would be rolled so you should maybe be realistic and make gems just for the 0-5th level range, size gives it big advantage, ability scores are higher than I expected for a 2HD creature of Tiny size, and it has a Climb, Burrow, and Fly speeds))

Alright... Since the Workers cant exactly cast much, how about warriors with PC classes? Level adjustment +4?
And I modified some of the abilities, just waiting for Crovius to get back to me about them.

Spell gem modifications are approved. And you forget, they have more than 1 racial HD. So a +4 LA, plus 6 racial HD, means a Lv 1 Ant warrior Fighter has 7 HD and counts as a Lv 11 character. Adn all the ants can fly, which the only thing the Devourer can do to compensate is ripping p chunks of the arena and hurling them at the ants.

Edit: In other words 4 Warriors with a level in Fighter would be an even match for 1 Devourer. So yeah, that's how strong your guys are.

Still, A lvel 1 Ant warrior Barbarian counts as a Level 11, even though is only has the benefits of 1 level of a class. A barbarian Worker, with only 2 HD and a LA of just +2 counts as a level 5 character. And would be more realistic as a player character. you know, other than the fact that it's only a foot tall.
