We don't have a huge sample size to go on, but we do have a few disciplines with enough named/explored characters to make a few educated guesses.

Basically, this is a Nature vs. Nurture debate. A caster's discipline doesn't just give them spells and basic competency at it, it gives them a new sense with which to perceive the world. That colors their perceptions and gives them a very tangible career goal, whereas most of us Stupidworlders struggle with finding a dream to follow.

And while we've seen a lot of similarity in say Thinkamancers and Carnymancer's way of thinking and personality wise, they're all still unique. So just how much does a caster's class and discipline affect their outlook?

Given that Erfworld appears to endow casters with a personality and signamancy appropriate to their role, I'm not sure how you'd be able to separate out the particular impact of a Caster's unique senses.
Signamancy in Erfworld is just much too strong to be able to analyze nurture in all but a few cases (e.g. Jillian and Wanda).

Don't forget that the vast majority of units don't tend to live all that long. And they tend to pop as fully developed adults... :|

I can honestly say I never thought of Signamancy that way, and while it makes terrifying sense it's also really depressing. :(

I mean, it makes sense with what happened to Digdoug and Ace. Both were basically treated as dirt or worse for not being they class of caster that the side wanted or having the wrong personality for their given caster class.

But there again, Ace, Holly Shortcake, and (buffalo) Bill are all radically different as Dollomancers. Does this mean that diversity within the caster classes is confined to the stereotypes they're derived from in Stupidworld? Is it really so bad that fighting personal Signamancy is as challenging as fighting Fate?
